Tamara BoxTamara Box, Managing Partner, Europe & Middle East

Tamara is the Head of Structured Finance at Reed Smith. Tamara has more than 24 years’ experience in advising arrangers, dealers, issuers and trustees in a wide range of debt instruments, including bonds (securitisations, project bonds, high-yield, convertible, and exchangeable bonds and Islamic bond issuances), the establishment of debt programmes, liability management, restructurings and private placements. She has advised all participants, including arrangers, originators, servicers and trustees, in the securitisation of a wide variety of assets in numerous jurisdictions. She also regularly advises trustees, issuers, arrangers, investors and servicers in structured debt restructurings and workouts. Further, she has significant experience of distressed debt and NPLs.

 

Iain Balkwill, Partner

Iain is a partner in the Structured Finance Group. His practice covers a wide range of structured finance work with a particular focus on the commercial real estate asset class. Iain has represented Issuers, corporate service providers, corporate trust providers, servicers, special servicers, noteholders and borrowers with respect to a range of securitisations. He has also advised arrangers on the origination of a number of CMBS transactions including the Cornerstone Titan, Deco, Titan Europe and Ursus securitisations.

 

Ranajoy BasuRanajoy Basu, Partner

Ranajoy has several years experience in structured finance, securitisations, derivatives, debt capital markets and debt restructurings. He has advised a wide range of participants, including arrangers, originators, servicers and trustees, in connection with the securitisation of a wide variety of assets in numerous jurisdictions. His experience includes Covered Bond transactions, standalone RMBS deals, emerging market securitisations, infrastructure financings, segregated asset pool programmes, Master Trust programmes, ABCP conduits, Medium Term Note programmes, renewable energy project bonds and synthetic securitisations. He is dual qualified in England and India.

 

James FisherJames Fisher, Partner

James is a partner in the Financial Industry Group. He specialises in both cross-border and domestic structured finance and derivatives and advises all types of market participants including arrangers, note issuers and corporate service providers, swap counterparties, corporate trustees, servicers, investors, lenders and borrowers on securitisations, derivative transactions, MTN programmes, master trust programmes, debt capital markets, restructurings, regulatory-driven insurance-linked securities, SIVs, CDOs and other structured credit products.

 

Simon Hugo, Partner

Simon is a partner in the Financial Industry Group. Simon advises all types of market participants on the establishment of structured finance and securitisation transactions. He also regularly advises on structured finance defaults, enforcements, contractual interpretation issues and disputes. Simon has significant experience advising on the origination, securitisation, restructuring and enforcement of debt secured by commercial real estate and the acquisition and sale of distressed and performing loan portfolios. Andrzej JaniszewskiAndrzej Janiszewski, Senior Associate

Andrzej is a senior associate in the Structured Finance Group. He has worked on a broad variety of structured finance transactions including residential mortgage backed securitisations, commercial mortgage backed securitisations, auto loans securitisations, commercial real estate loan origination, interest and currency hedging, stand alone bond issues and MTN programmes. Andrzej has advised corporate service providers, arrangers, trustees, noteholders, originators and borrowers on a range of structured finance and derivative transactions in a number of jurisdictions.

 

Nathan Menon, Associate

Nathan is an associate in the Structured Finance Group. His practice includes a wide range of structured finance work including debt capital markets, debt restructurings, securitisations and non-performing loans. Nathan has represented a wide range of market participants including issuers, trustees, agents, lenders, corporate service providers and borrowers with respect to a range of corporate and real estate financing transactions. In addition, Nathan regularly advises on the acquisition, restructuring and refinancing of large portfolios of non-performing loans backed by commercial real estate and their subsequent asset management.

Nathan has completed a secondment to the UK retail banking and debt solutions teams at Capita Asset Services where he advised on new securitisation business and a variety of transactional matters relating to loan services and outsourcing.

 

Nazneen SachedinaNazneen Sachedina, Associate

Nazneen joined Reed Smith in 2010 as a trainee and qualified as a solicitor into the Structured Finance Group in September 2012. Nazneen has wide ranging corporate trustee experience, ranging from advising clients on high yield bond issuances, consent solicitations, loan facilities and escrow arrangements.  Nazneen has worked with The Bank of New York Mellon, Citibank, Crestbridge, Deutsche Bank, The Law Debenture Trust Corporation p.l.c, and Wilmington Trust.   

 

Nick StainethorpeNick Stainthorpe, Partner

Nick specialises in derivatives (including structured equity, structured credit and interest, inflation and FX hedging) and structured finance (including secured corporate bonds and securitisation). Recent transactions which he has advised on include highly structured hedging arrangements for the refinancing of an infrastructure company, a structured repo over a portfolio of loans, hedging for a European CMBS, a collar financing of shares in a UK listed company, a securitisation of home shopping catalogue receivables and the restructuring of a conduit programme. He speaks regularly at events on matters such as the implications of regulation on the finance sector.

 

Priya Taneja, Associate

Priya is an associate in the Financial Industry Group. She joined the firm in January 2014 and has experience in advising on a range of finance transactions, including structured finance and securitisation, debt capital markets and bilateral and syndicated lending.

 

 

slcaldwellSarah Caldwell, Senior Associate

Sarah is a senior associate in the Financial Industry Group. Sarah advises on a variety of finance transactions including stand-alone asset backed securities, RMBS issuances and restructurings (including a number of the recent high profile Eurosail series restructurings), auto leases securitisations, loan portfolio sales and purchases spanning a broad range of loan asset classes and jurisdictions, high-yield bonds and medium term note programmes. Prior to joining Reed Smith Sarah spent six years working for the former Northern Rock bank and Virgin Money where she was heavily involved in the issuance of the RMBS Gosforth programmes and various securitisation programme updates and restructurings.

Sarah has recently returned from a nine month secondment at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she advised on loan portfolio sales and acquisitions as part of her day-to-day role advising the Global Loans and Special Situations trading desk.

Katie Grace, Associate

Katie is an associate in the Structured Finance Group. She joined Reed Smith in February 2012 as a trainee and qualified into the Structured Finance Group in February 2014. During her training Katie sat in Structured Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, Investment Funds and also completed a six month secondment to the firm’s Abu Dhabi office.

 

 

Angelina Soon, Partner

Angelina joined Reed Smith as counsel in the Financial Industry Group. She is an English qualified solicitor with experience acting on a wide range of banking and debt restructuring transactions. Her practice specialises in the financing, securitisation and restructuring of commercial real estate debt, with a particular emphasis on the loan servicing and asset management business. Angelina regularly acts for agents, trustees, primary servicers and special servicers in the commercial real estate market and is actively involved in the European commercial mortgage securitisation market.

 

Charlotte Barnett, Associate

Charlotte is an associate in the Financial Industry Group. She joined Reed Smith in February 2015 as a trainee and qualified into the Structured Finance team in February 2017. During her training Charlotte sat in Structured Finance, Commercial Disputes and Entertainment & Media. Charlotte has also undertaken two secondments, one to BBC Global News and a six month secondment to Shell Trading in London, during which she specialised in the analysis, application and negotiation of EU Financial Regulation.

Will is an associate in the Financial Industry Group.  He joined Reed Smith in February 2015 as a trainee and qualified into the Structured Finance team in February 2017. During his training contract Will sat in Structured Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, Corporate and Shipping.  Prior to joining Reed Smith Will was a paralegal at Wells Fargo Bank, N. A., London Branch.

Chloë is a second year Trainee Solicitor in the Structured Finance Group.  She joined the firm in February 2016.

During her training so far she has completed seats in the London Real Estate Group, undertaking both transactional and litigious work, and a six-month secondment to the Athens Office working in the Shipping Group.
